Anthony Lee Schaefer was born on February 7th, 1960, in Sterling, Colorado and grew up in the small farming community of Haxtun, Colorado. He was the beloved son of Lee Robert and Thyra Mae Schaefer. Anthony was sent to his eternal home on August 22nd, 2025, and passed away from natural causes at his residence in Cheyenne, Wyoming. His death was preceded by his dad, Lee Robert Schaefer, older brother David Duane Schaefer and his mom Thyra Mae Schaefer. He is survived by his brother Daniel K Schaefer, sister-in-law Kathleen Schaefer, and niece Elizabeth Schaefer. He also leaves behind numerous cousins whom he adored dearly.
Tony, as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and his very unselfish giving ways. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and co-workers at the Television Station in Cheyenne where he last worked. Tony should be remembered not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
After his graduation from Haxtun High School, Tony attended NJC where he studied Broadcast Electronics and later acquired his Federal FCC Licenses to operate and repair Broadcast Transmitters. After graduating from NJC Tony was hired by KTVS in Sterling Colorado where he started his journey in Television Broadcasting. The last 45 years of Tony's life were devoted to the Television Broadcast Industry, and he loved each and every year of the challenges they provided. Outside of his work life, Tony found joy in many hobbies. He enjoyed collecting almost everything imaginable and in his younger years enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Those who knew Tony will remember him for his infectious smile and his unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone he encountered.
Tony's Television Station will be holding a private memorial to honor him at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Cheyenne, 3005 Thomes Ave, Cheyenne, WY 82001 on the 3rd of September at 2pm. For more information the church may be contacted at (307) 638-4554.
Although Tony's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do.
