Listen to Obituary

Amy Denise Dvorak (Wisdom) 64 of Cheyenne, Wyoming went to be with the Lord on September 26th, 2025, after fighting a six-week battle with leukemia. She was surrounded by those she held closest to her heart.

Amy was born in Sterling, CO on October 7th, 1960, to Donald and Maxine Wisdom. Amy grew up in Fleming, CO and graduated from Fleming High School in 1979. She continued to Northeastern Junior College to get her LPN degree then later went to Laramie County Community College to get her bachelor's degree in nursing.

Amy started her nursing career working at Sidney Regional Medical Center in Sidney, NE as a floater, but her favorite department was obstetrics. She then moved to Laramie WY to work at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. Along with working many clinical hours in the Emergency Department Amy assumed many leadership roles, teaching ALCS, PALS, Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course, and Trauma Nurse Care Course at the local, state and national level. She was certified in Emergency Nursing and was leader/mentor for the department tech staff. She was one of six ER nurses who accepted the challenge of becoming a certified Oncology Nurse. Amy was also co-author of a published article on the importance of formal mentoring and coaching in nursing. While working in the oncology department, she helped Meredith and Jeannie Ray’s dream of building a cancer center come to life. When she was no longer able to work clinically, due to MS complications, she finished her career as nurse manager of the former Gem City Bone and Joint orthopedic center. Her technical skills, competency, compassion, and teamwork were her shining glory. There wasn’t an IV she couldn’t start. If she only knew how many lives she touched as a colleague, care giver, and friend.

Amy married Rod Dvorak in 1983. They raised three daughters that were their whole world. Amy loved to take the kids camping and 4-wheeling in the Wyoming mountains, and jet skiing in the lakes of Nebraska and Colorado. In the winter, they spent every weekend skiing and snowmobiling until the girls' weekends got filled with extracurricular activities. Amy was the most supportive mom. she always had extra snacks, gear, and never missed an event. She always made sure her family came first and always tried to show us that nothing is impossible with Jesus present. She strived to be the best and never settled for less. She was a natural teacher that loved to show her family the importance of hard work and dedication in everything you do. Her girls were her whole world, and then they made her a Mimi.

Tara, Tanessa, and Mallory gave her eight grandchildren that were the lights of Amy’s life. She went above and beyond loving them with all she had every single day. In true Mimi form, she never missed a game, concert, or anything that was important to her kiddos. She was the taxi, dinner maker, and favorite spot to sleepover. No matter the day, no matter the miles, no matter the circumstance, she always made sure her family was loved and cared for. The greatest gift Amy shared with her family was her faith in Jesus Christ. She had no doubt she was going to heaven and wanted her family to know Him so that someday, she would get to be reunited with everyone.

Amy is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Maxine Wisdom, her brother, Terry Wisdom, and her granddaughter, Parker Rose.

Remaining to cherish Amy's memory are her siblings Barbra Miles, and Gary Wisdom (Lori); Her daughters Tara Cooper (Mike), Tanessa Dvorak (Pancho), and Mallory Edwards (Josh); Grandchildren Ariel, Cyrus, Riley, Kennedy, Miriel, Charlie, and Maxwell, and so many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at Element Church in Cheyenne, WY on October 6th at 2 pm with Buzz Hannon officiating. Funeral arrangements are being made with Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
