Rae Dillmon, 88, of Cheyenne, died on Saturday, August 15, 2026, in Cheyenne. Rae was born September 2, 1937, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, grew up on her family farm in Cozad, NE and lived in Cheyenne since 1974. Rae was a fashion model, and retail saleswoman while raising her four children. At 42 she joined the Navy Reserves, serving 10 years and was the Commissary Officer at F.E. Warren from April of 1975 to January of 1998. Rae was a strong, independent woman and an incredible leader setting the standard for everyone who knew her. Rae was outspoken and always in charge. Rae was also caring, loving and always there when you needed support. She was the foundation and heart of her family, including her beloved husband of 62 years, four children, 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Her hobbies reflected her beauty and compassion, through the thousands of hand sewn quilts she donated to the mother baby unit at CRMC, her crafts and her oil paintings. Rae loved watching and painting Bison. She enjoyed gambling in central city and her generosity was often repaid in luck on the slot machines. Rae will be missed by those she left behind. However there is peace knowing she is once again with the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Ken Dillmon, whom she married on October 9, 1955, in Cozad, Nebraska.
She is survived by her children, Kim Connell, Debbie Smith (Keith), Gregg Dillmon, and Angie Dillmon; grandchildren Brandon (Linda) and April Baker (Neal Cashman), Stephanie and Candice Dillmon, Autum and Jake Smith (Lindsey); Tommy Connell, and Carrie Billott Vanderpoel (Brad); great-grandchildren, Kai, Eleanor, Raeley, Tyler, Kylee, Shayne, Ruby, Taylor, Jaron, Jaylin, Phoenix, Alex, Austin, Bryce, Cole and Andy; and great-great-grandchild Aiden, Beckham, and Myla. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Marie Love; her brother Larry Love, her husband Kenneth Dillmon, and her grandson Kenny Baker.
No public services will be held. Private services will be held at the Cheyenne National Cemetery.
