October 23, 1927 - September 26, 2021
On Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 3:05 a.m., Sol Manuel Trujillo (94), of Cheyenne, Wyoming, a man of great faith, peacefully passed away as his beloved wife Theresa Trujillo and his adoring mother, Emilia Salazar, reached their hands out to him from Heaven. Sol was a man who was meant to be amongst the stars; but also, just like his namesake, he was a bright light who illuminated every room. It is by no coincidence that he passed at an hour that is a bridge between the stars and the sun. Sol was a man who was larger than life. He was a trailblazer, an advocate, and a local celebrity. He came from humble beginnings but defied all odds with the success of his musical career, creating the first and most notable Mariachi Band in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Sol Trujillo and the Mariachi Brass; while also being the long-standing owner (34 years) of a tavern in La Porte, Colorado called Sol’s Long Branch. He was the first Latino in Wyoming and Colorado to have achieved this success; all while proudly displaying his heritage and Latino roots. Always proud of who he was and from where he came. While Sol’s greatest passion was music, his greatest joy was his family. Bursting with love and pride, he lived each day for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. To him, nothing was more important. Family always came first and his family was his greatest achievement. Sol is survived by his children, Margie (Romie) Puente, Terri (David) Sais, and Solomon Dennis (Corine) Trujillo; grandchildren, Valerie (Cevin) Cox, Christina (Basil) Trujillo- Ayoub, Natalie (Dallas) Yount, Triana Trujillo, Andrea Trujillo, and Annette (Jeff) Suloff; great-grandchildren, Dylan Cox, Zoe Yount, Taylor Cox, Colin Suloff, Delaney Suloff, Sofia Cox, and Alexander and Analisa Ayoub. Sol is preceded in death by his parents, Solomon Amado Trujillo and Emilia Salazar; beloved wife, Theresa (Lujan) Trujillo; and siblings, Adolfo, Clotilde Herrera, Clorinda Fresquez, Sofia Fresquez, Manuelita Vigil, Fructoso and Ernesto Trujillo. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, in Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Vigil for the Deceased will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Funeral Liturgy will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Olivet Cemetery. As we memorialize Sol Trujillo, we give him one last standing ovation and round-of-applause. He is loved deeply by his family and he will be greatly missed. May God Bless You, Sol. It’s now showtime in Heaven. In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Mary’s School 2200 O'Neil Ave or St. Joseph's Food Pantry, 206 Van Lennen Ave.
