Maria “Pita” Solis, 100, of Cheyenne, WY passed away peacefully at her home on November 5, 2021. She was born on March 25, 1921 to the late Toribio and Delfinia Salas. Maria was born on the Salas Ranch named Piedra Lumbre (aka “Fire Rock) in San Miguel County, New Mexico. Maria is survived by her children, Ernesto (Bonnie) Solis, Nora Solis Poling, Mollie (Tommy) Cook, Delma (Doug) Hargens, Mary Burnell(Tosha and Danny), Susan (Rick) Duran, Marilyn Solis; siblings, Max Salas, Mary Martinez, Connie Griego, and Tony Salas; and numerous grandchildren, great, and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcello John Solis; brothers, Dale, Ted, Manuel, and Charles Salas; sister, Gavenita; daughter, Dorthey Martinez; and grandson, Rodney Lance Merriman. Maria’s greatest memories in life were her large family and friends. She enjoyed gambling and going out to eat in a moments notice. Her employment would be raising a large family and being a wife. Maria will be dearly missed by all her family members and friends. Thank you all kindly for all the love and support. A Memorial Service for family and friends will be Friday, November 12, at 2:00 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel with the interment of cremains to follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
