Charles Willard Payton Jr.

Charles W. Payton Jr. (Chuck) passed unexpectedly May 26 at home. He was a lifelong resident of Cheyenne, born to Hattie and Charles Payton Sr. on July 11, 1949. Chuck was a lifetime member of the American Legion, having served in many positions and was dedicated to helping veterans. He was retired from the Wyoming Army Guard. Chuck is survived by his wife, Sharon; sisters, Karen Payton and Barbara Payton; brother, Ray (Bub) Payton; daughter, Dawn Abernathy; stepdaughter, Tracie Soich; stepsons, Chris Gleckler and Kevin Clark; and two grandsons. He is preceded in death by his parents. There are no services scheduled. As we say goodbye, let’s remember Chuck with one final “arrgh”.
