Carol Marie Gaukel, 88, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, died on January 25, 2022 in Cheyenne. She was born August 8, 1933 in Grand Island, Nebraska to John and Blanche Nielsen. Carol retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming. In her retirement years, she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren, garden, work crossword puzzles, and have coffee with her mall walker friends. She is survived by her daughter Susan (Mike) Gale; son, David (Jenny) Gaukel; son-in-law, Doug Thiede; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tamela Thiede; and sisters, Jo Ann Tierney and Kay Ott. The family will have a private service at a later date.
