    Bonnie Turner

    November 15, 1935 - April 8, 2022

Bonnie Turner, 86, of Cheyenne, passed away on April 8, 2022 in Cheyenne. She was born to Floyd and Bessie Young on November 15, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska. Bonnie had a hard life growing up as her parents worked hard coming out of the depression. Her father was a baker and started the Purity Bakery, in the building on the south end of the viaduct where Needs, Inc. is now located. He became ill with the rheumatic fever and Bonnie quit school to stay home to care for her father while her mother ran the bakery. She still managed to graduate with the first class out of Cheyenne High School. She married the love of her life, John Turner, and they had five children. John and Bonnie started a drive-in hamburger stand called the Drift Inn and built a bakery for Bonnie’s Dad called the Bonnie Lou Bakery, both of which were on Logan Avenue. After a few other adventures, John and Bonnie started what is now known as Taco Johns, and a tortilla manufacturing company. Bonnie was a member of Faith Baptist Church. For years she was the friendly smiling face sitting up front in her usual spot. She loved God and enjoyed helping the church with whatever was needed. One of her greatest joys was helping with vacation bible school while she was able. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by two sons, Mark and John Turner; a daughter, Tammara Read; and many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, John Turner; her parents, Floyd and Bessie Young; a son, Steven Turner; and a daughter, Penny Hunt. Visitation will be Thursday, 9-5, at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Services will be Friday, 1:30 p.m., at Faith Baptist Church with burial to immediately follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers please contribute to the Bonnie Turner Memorial Fund c/0 First Tier Bank 1800 Carey Avenue, Cheyenne Wyoming 82003
