February 13, 2021 - April 1, 2021
Our beloved mom Betty left this earth to join her husband (Aldon) (“Giff”) in heaven on April 1, 2021. She passed peacefully at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne. She was born on February 13, 1928 in Greeley, Colorado to Roy and Twila Willcox. She is survived by Joan (Carl) Craig of Florida, Judy (Fred) Scott of Washington, Nick Giffin of Colorado, and Sherry (Lynn) Gaer of Wyoming, and four grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She grew up on a farm and graduated from Ault High School. She worked as a hair stylist before becoming the first receptionist/tour guide in the Capital Building rotunda. She worked with four different Governors (Hansen, Hathaway, Herschler, and Sullivan) who respected and appreciated all the work she did in promoting the great State of Wyoming. She loved planning and coordinating the 100th Year Birthday Celebration of the Capital Building. She and dad were instrumental in getting the Cheyenne Trolley up and running. She and Giff built ABCamping from the ground up. She continued to work at the Capital Building while also working at the Campground. After 20 years she retired from the State, so she could work full time at the Campground up to the time they sold it. While operating the Campground they met many people from all over the country who became lifelong friends and who returned every year. In the winter months she would map out trips for her and Dad to take and they would load up and take off in their fifth wheel on yet another adventure. She was the planner and navigator for Dad. After that they would set down in Arizona and spend a little more time in the warm weather. She and Dad made many wonderful friendships in Arizona that lasted their lifetimes. One of her many hobbies was making baby quilts for the Lions Club. She had put together over a hundred quilts, before it got to be too hard for her to see. She also loved making dolls and teddy bears. She enjoyed and was obsessed with watching basketball. While in Arizona, the Phoenix Suns were her favorite team. When she moved back to Wyoming the Nuggets and the Golden State Warriors became her favorites. She loved her poodles, Pepe, Barbie, Missy, and lastly her Honey (a bichon she adopted from Sherry). They were the most pampered pups! We will miss her to the moon and back! She was the rock of our family. We will keep her in our hearts forever. We know she is now with Dad, her best friend Kahla (like a sister), and her sister Dorothy. They are having a party! A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, August 20, 2021 at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Donations can be made to Davis Hospice in her name.
